Biography

McKena Stickney is a student at Boston University where she is studying to achieve her Master of Music degree under the instruction of Professor Linda Toote.

She completed her Bachelor of Music at the University of Texas at Austin with the esteemed guidance of Professor Marianne Gedigian. She also studied for 2 years at the Eastman School of Music with Professor Bonita Boyd.

Before college, she studied in Rochester NY with Jennifer Trimble Ford for 8 years, a local music therapist.

McKena has also studied at the Aria Summer Music Academy, the Monteux Summer Academy and the Fredonia Summer Music Festival. Throughout her education, she has studied with many esteemed flute professors including Johnathon Keeble, Donna Shin, Christina Jennings, John Thorne, Marina Piccinini, Clint Foreman, Keith Underwood, Jan Angus, Lady Jean Galway, Rebecca Gilbert and Rhonda Larson. 

Currently, McKena is also currently principal flutist in the New Philharmonia Orchestra in Newton MA as well as the Boston University Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. 

She looks forward to achieving her degree and pursuing a career in performing, teaching and flute manufacturing and repair in the Boston, MA area.
